The designs could also be worked on plastic canvas or another cross stitch fabric - as small bookmarks, for example. The pattern does not include a list of colours used, since traditional cross stitch skeins would not normally be used for stitching on a blank of this size (that would be rather expensive!) - I used coloured and textured wools that I already had at home, and my assumption is that others using the blank will also use flosses/tapestry wool/other materials they already have or are able to use economically.
